How does a Gift Card work?
A gift card can be used with Cash Register Express and
Restaurant Express. When a customer purchases a gift
card, the store attendant swipes the gift card manually
through a magnetic card reader, than programs a dollar
amount into Cash Register Express or Restaurant Express
point f sale cash register PC program. When a guest
returns to redeem the cash value of the gift card the
pre-programmed gift card will display the balance of the
gift card and deduct the proper amount so the gift card can
be used again to make another purchase. A magnetic swipe
gift card can be used over again and again using Cash
Register Express and Restaurant Express.
Ask for a gift certificate
from a department store for your friend's birthday and
you'll likely get something that looks like a credit card
instead of the traditional paper certificate.

hardware include: Windows based PC computer, Cash
Register Express or Restaurant Express and a magnetic card
